Best advice and responsibility for decisions
We comply with the Association of Professional Declutters & Organisers’ code of ethics.
Confidentiality and your data
Regardless of who instructs us or pays for our services, we will always maintain the confidentiality of our client, i.e. the person with whom we are working and who is receiving the benefit of our services and professional help.
There may be limited exceptions to this where we are required to disclose information by law and/or we believe you are a threat to yourself or others.
We also talk about our work in general, anonymous terms, e.g. using examples of projects we’ve taken on so people can understand what we do and how we could help them. You couldn’t be identified from these descriptions.
If you give us permission we’d love to share more information about our work with you for marketing purposes. We’ll always talk to you about this first so you can understand what we’d like to do and give you the opportunity to shape this.
You can read more about how we handle your information in our privacy policy
Photographs
With your permission we’d like to take some photos before, during and after our work so we can show people what we do. If you agree, we’ll use these for marketing purposes.
Disclaimer
All decisions to dispose of items remain with, and are your responsibility.
You are responsible for all or any items disposed of in the decluttering process.
What we will and won’t do
We are usually happy to give cupboards a quick wipe-down and other quick and easy cleaning tasks but we are not cleaners. The items and areas we work with should be clean enough for us to safely work and will be left in the state they are found.
We will move things around as needed but may not be able to move large and/or heavy items.
Removal of items
We will not remove items from your home. Disposing of them correctly is your responsibility.
We can provide advice on how to donate and recycle things but you should check that these options are suitable for your goods. Your local council can provide advice on their recycling and refuse services.
If you hire a waste disposal company we suggest you check their accreditation to ensure they are reputable and will not fly tip your stuff.
Deposits, fees and payment terms
Fees will be agreed in advance.
We require a 50% deposit to secure bookings. This must be paid at least one week prior to the appointment.
The balance is due upon completion of the appointment, we will issue an invoice after our appointment.
Cancellation policy
We understand that sometimes circumstances change and will do our best to accommodate any requests to reschedule bookings. However if we can’t, or you wish to cancel a booking we will retain your deposit.
Access issues
If we are unable to safely access some or all of your space(s) we reserve the right to cancel some or all of your scheduled appointment and/or change the scope of the agreed project. No refund will be issued in these circumstances.
It is your responsibility to ensure the working area is safe for us to operate in and that the items we are working with will not present any unexpected hazards.
Accommodation and travel
Travel outside the Torbay boundaries will be charged at cost (for public transport) and 40p per mile (for car journeys).
If we require accommodation we will discuss this with you.
Hours of work
For any on site bookings over four hours we will take a break of 30 minutes. You will not be charged for this time.
